How do you receive money on ebay from buyers after they buy your item?

Cool_Kiss asked:

When the buyer buys your item on ebay, how do you receive money from them? Using Paypal? How? Do you need to have a credit/debit card in your paypal account in order to receive money?

You need to sign up with Paypal and then register as a seller. Then you can receive payments. Don’t forget though….Paypal take a cut of whatever you get sent and this is after eBay have already had their own piece of your profit. You have to pay eBay for listing the items too so just watch your outlay before deciding what to charge for items and their p&p. Also, eBay is starting to force us to charge free p&p for a lot of items. I got round this by just putting my items in a category that lets you charge p&p. I used the ‘wholesale’ category last. I do this because eBay can’t take a proportion of your p&p, only the actual selling price of the item. They are slowly changing the p&p rules for each category but you just have to find one that they haven’t got to yet! You could also ask for a cheque/postal order. This way, the customer pays postage to get the payment to you and Paypal doesn’t even see it. However, I do prefer Paypal. It’s just less hassle all round. Also, I do believe you have to register a credit/debit card when you first start a Paypal account. I believe it ensures they are dealing with an adult and not a child who is messing about on eBay or Paypal. My friend registered her bank with Paypal and that seemed to work fine. I don’t think they asked her to put credit card details in once that was all set up. You should, however have your bank set up on Paypal because it is soooo easy to transfer money out of Paypal and into your bank. I do it all the time and have never had any problems whatsoever. It’s totally free to do this if you are transferring £50 or more but doesn’t cost much even if it’s less. I hope this helps.

receiving money on eBay is easy.
    it’s usually done by paypal.

you will need to first open your own paypal account (paypal.com).
and then once your item is sold on eBay, your buyer will automatically get a payment reminder message with automated link to payment. the buyer will then send payment to the paypal account id/email that you’ve listed on the item itself (when you list item on eBay you need to choose payment method and your paypal email as well).

you then get email with confirmation on the payment.
