its not golf, like with a purse that is split among the winning team… there is no “prize money”

There’s a bonus pool for the players, which gets distributed first by teams, and then each team share is broken down into player shares, partial shares, and flat dollar amount grants. The money comes from 60% of the gate receipts to the first three games from each Division Series and the first four games of each LCS and the World Series (players therefore have no incentive to “ensure” that any given postseason series goes beyond the minimum).
The team shares sort out this way:
World Series winner — 36%
World Series loser — 24%
LCS losers — 24% (12% each)
Division Series losers — 12% (3% each)
Divisional second place teams that did not gain the wildcard berth — 4% (1% each, though what happens if two teams tie for a second place ranking, I don’t know).
A player share depends upon how much money goes into the pool, where the team finishes, and how the players voted (near the end of August) to divvy up the team share. As a reference point, however, the 2008 champion Phillies players who received a full player share collected a bit over $350,000.

that depends on several underlying circumstances, like; how much money , first of all, is in the “pool”. there is a formula that they follow to determine how much money will be divied up between ALL teams who made the post-season. Regardless of what it is, I dont think they should get ANY! they are already overpaid-BIG TIME!!!!! Winning the World Series is payment enough.
